Ravencoin — Getting Started (easy)

So you want to try out crypto, and get your feet wet. You’ve come to the right place. Ravencoin (RVN) is a great place to start.

This step-by-step guide will help you get some RVN of your own to hold. There are lots of resources here and elsewhere for learning about what Ravencoin can do, but this is just a simple step-by-step getting started guide.

The easiest place to start is to hold RVN on your phone. Ok I lied, the RVN isn’t really held on your phone, but the key to spend RVN is held on your phone. The RVN is actually stored on a ledger. Think of it as a big spreadsheet in the sky. If you lose your phone to the bottom of the deepest ocean, just get another phone, put in your 12-words and your RVN is back in your control.

Steps to Get Ravencoin Wallet:

1. First, get the Ravencoin Wallet app. Go to Play Store if you have an Android phone, or the App Store on if you have Apple iPhone. If you don’t know what you have, take the case off and if it has an Apple logo on the back, it’s an Apple iPhone. No Apple logo, probably Android then.
2. Launch the Ravencoin Wallet and hit the [New Wallet] button. It may run through a quick tutorial on your phone first.
3. The Ravencoin Wallet will ask you to write down 12 words. This is super important. Write down the 12 words, write “Ravencoin Wallet Recovery” on the top, and store in a super safe place — like a safe if you have one. Don’t forget where you’ve stored it, as you might need it someday.
4. Click on the little arrow in the top right next to “RVN”. Now hit the [Receive] button, and you’ll see a QR code a long address that starts with an R. That’s a Ravencoin address and you’ll need it for the next step. You can think of that address like your own Ravencoin account number. Click on the address to copy it to the phone’s clipboard.

Steps to Buy RVN:

1. Go to vertbase.com
2. Create an account and log in.
3. Click on the [Buy] button for Ravencoin
4. Click on “add a bank account” and link your bank account information.
5. Purchase RVN and enter your Ravencoin Address from your Ravencoin Wallet. Remember that the value of RVN can go up or down.
6. Wait. The existing banking system is pretty slow at moving money around.
7. Your wallet will be credited with the RVN you bought.
